1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Wildfire Tracker (accessible from wildfiresmap.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this site.
2. Critical Emergency & Life-Safety Disclaimer
WILDFIRE TRACKER IS AN INFORMATIONAL VISUALIZATION PLATFORM ONLY. IT IS NOT AN OFFICIAL EMERGENCY DISPATCH SERVICE OR LIFE-SAFETY EVACUATION SYSTEM.
Satellite thermal anomaly detections (NASA MODIS/VIIRS) and agency incident locations (NIFC WFIGS) are subject to satellite orbit passes, cloud cover interference, atmospheric distortion, and sensor reporting latency. Satellite data may not show active fires immediately.
In the event of an active wildfire emergency: ALWAYS rely on official local emergency services, county sheriff notifications, 911 dispatch, and local broadcast media for official evacuation directives. Never make life-safety decisions based solely on satellite maps.
3. Use License & Open Data Usage
Permission is granted to view, share, and embed data visualizations provided on Wildfire Tracker for personal, educational, research, and non-commercial public safety awareness.
Under this license, you may not:
- Attempt to reverse engineer or disrupt the platform's real-time streaming tile infrastructure;
- Scrape automated requests at frequencies that exceed API rate limits or disrupt service availability for other users;
- Misrepresent satellite thermal estimations as official government evacuation orders.
4. Advertising, Third-Party Links & Programmatic Content
Wildfire Tracker contains links to external websites, government portals (such as NASA FIRMS, EPA AirNow, NIFC), and displays programmatic advertisements via Google AdSense and third-party ad networks.
Wildfire Tracker has not reviewed all of the sites linked to its website and is not responsible for the contents of any such linked site or third-party advertisement. The inclusion of any link or advertisement does not imply endorsement by Wildfire Tracker. Use of any such linked website is at the user's own risk.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The materials and data on Wildfire Tracker are provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis. Wildfire Tracker makes no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaims and negates all other warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of intellectual property.
6. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Wildfire Tracker, its operators, or data suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data, property damage, personal injury, or business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the satellite mapping tools or data on Wildfire Tracker, even if an authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage.
7. Revisions and Governing Law
Wildfire Tracker may revise these Terms of Service at any time without prior notice. By using this website, you are agreeing to be bound by the then current version of these Terms of Service. These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
